Leddy Park is rich in plant and animal life. Many species have been seen and reported by park users.
Plants include Wood Anemone, Sweet White Violet, Wild Oats, Bloodroot, Bracken Fern, Cinnamon Fern, Teaberry, Honeysuckle, Buck Thorn, Sensitive Fern, Winter Berry, Skunk Cabbage, and Red Trillium.
Trees include White Pine, Red Maple, Sugar Maple, Black Birch, Quaking Aspen, Red Pine, Paper Birch, Big Toothed Aspen, Beech, Cherry, Red Oak, Black Oak, Striped Maple, and Hemlock.
Mammals include Gray and Red Squirrel, Chipmunk, Raccoon, Skunk, Opossum, Rabbit, Red Fox and Moles. A moose was even spotted in the park.
Bird species are plentiful in the park sightings include Pileated Woodpecker, Redheaded Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker, Barred Owl, Cardinal, American Goldfinch, Blue Jay, House Finch, Crow, Nesting Wood Duck, Black-capped Chickadee, Snowy Owl, White-breasted Nuthatch, Red Tailed Hawk, Belted Kingfisher, Pine Warbler, Raven, Tree Swallow, Mallard, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Bufflehead, White-winged crossbill, Cedar Waxwing, Robin, Red-eyed Vireo, American Redstart, Mourning Dove, Hooded Merganser, Osprey, Merlin, Northern Flicker, Loon, Pine Siskin, Red-winged Blackbird, Tufted Titmouse, and Slate-colored Junco.
