Leddy Park Community Fall Clean-up This Sat. Nov. 15
The newly formed Friends of Leddy Park group is organizing a fall clean-up morning.
9am This Sat. Nov. 15.
Meet at the Northeast corner trail entrance at Leddy Rink parking lot.
We will be picking up trash and doing some trail clearing and maintenance in the natural areas in preparation for a safe and enjoyable winter recreation season. Rubber gloves and trash bags provided. Bring clippers, plastic buckets, shovels and iron rakes if you have them, and some of your friends, kids and neighbors. A good community service project for high school students needing those hours, too.
The friends group will be planning other maintenance projects and clean-up days in the future. To learn more about the Friends of Leddy Park or to share your concerns or ideas, contact Nancy Powers at noodlepower@yahoo.com.
To all members of the Friends of Leddy Park fall clean up crew,
I just want to thank all of you for coming out to help clean the park. It was a very successful day. We collected 14 bags of trash and a decent amount of metal/junk and blankets. We did a great job covering most of the park. We had a total of 11 people. This includes a whole family and someone that saw the activity posted in the Burlington Free Press, he lived in the old north end. Some folks walking on the beach jumped in to help and thanked us for doing our good work.
A group of people did the trail maintenance. The large pieceof metal was removed from the trail and the braces are put in place to bank up the sloped trail for future dirt or gravel deposit. Two hour slot was perfect. I can really see a difference when I walk through the park. Thank you to Lisa Coven for supplying the trash bags and gloves and maps.
I wish we took more pictures. Ron McGarvey took some pictures of the bulk of trash set down by the dumpster.
What a great success for Friends of Leddy Park. I look forward to finishing the trail work and planning more events to ensure a healthy park.
Thank you again,
Nancy Powers

Sat. Thanks so much for organizing this effort-I am sure it does look a
lot better. Glad the weather didn’t diminish your efforts. I am very
pleased that the “Friends” have been organized and am sure that it
will
