BTown Working Group Meeting Letter
Below is a letter from the Btown Disc Golf Club asking supporters to attend the Disc Golf Working Group Meeting on Monday 2/2/09
Dear Disc Golfers and Supporters,
Since last fall a handful of representatives from the Burlington community and the BTown Disc Golf Club have been convening a “working group” in order to come up with a recommendation in terms of moving the disc golf course at Leddy Park forward (or not).
This coming Monday, February 2nd at 6:15 pm the working group is opening the meeting for public comments. The meeting will be held at the Miller Community and Recreation Center, located at the end of Gosse Court in the New North End of Burlington (Gosse Ct is north of Leddy Park on the east side of North Ave.)
The opposition to the course has become better organized since the last public forum. They are organized on the web: http://www.leddypark.org/, http://wards4and7npa.blogspot.com/
They have also been reaching out to local elected officials and Mayoral candidates, often times spreading misinformation about the proposed course, the process, and disc golf in general.
We must turn our supporters out for this meeting to demonstrate strong support for the course. We cannot let the process be hijacked by an extremely vocal opposition.
Every time we’ve asked for your help, we’ve had a great response. Please help us to continue moving the process forward by showing up to voice your support for a disc golf course in Leddy Park.
We must demonstrate that the community’s concerns for the environment, peoples’ safety and responsible use of the land are our concerns as well, and that the building of a disc golf course will take into account all of these concerns.
