Green Up Day 2013 in Leddy Park was a huge success. Dave Hartnett provided a great spread of refreshments and the sunny Spring day helped bring out a record number of attendees at the event. By our count, at least 30 people joined us in Leddy Park on May 4th to pick up litter and trash that accumulated in the park and on the beach over the winter. The park looks great!
Friends of Leddy Park held a park cleanup and picnic on Saturday October 29.
Thanks to everyone who helped pick up all the litter that had accumulated throughout the park since Green Up Day in May. Illegal dumps containing household items and tires were also picked up. The park looks great!
Attending were Roy Collette, Steven and Georgiana Fox, Ron McGarvey, Larry Solt, Nancy Powers and Lincoln Mead, Dave Hartnett, Pascale Gulick, Alice Schroeder, Nancy and Russ Nancy Ellis, Kurt and Kim Wright, and the Barlow Family – Maggie, Nash, Kelley and Mark. Ritchie Snow from Parks & Rec helped with set up and collected the trash afterward.
Friends of Leddy Park will be holding a park cleanup on Saturday October 29 from 9:00AM to 11:00AM to pick up any litter remaining from the heavy use the park gets through the Summer and Fall. We will meet in the parking lot near the Tennis Courts at 9:00AM – trash bags and gloves will be provided.
Weather permitting, we will grill hot dogs and hamburgers immediately afterward and have lunch in the picnic area behind the Arena.
Please come join us and help keep Leddy Park clean and litter free.
